Tesla CEO Elon Musk celebrated the automaker’s continued dominance in South Korea’s fiercely competitive imported car market.
On Friday, Musk reposted an image of the Korean national flag Taegeukgi modified to feature Tesla’s “T” logo. Writing “Tesla Korea” above the shared post, Musk highlighted data showing the US EV maker maintained its top spot among imported car brands for the ninth consecutive month.
The original post noted that Tesla registered 9,165 vehicles in October -- a 110.7 percent surge year-on-year -- outperforming German luxury rivals, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Sources say Musk’s move underscores his continued interest in Korea, following a series of Korea-related posts on X over the past year.
In June this year, Musk praised the market by posting “Korea is awesome” alongside a Taegeukgi emoji after the Model Y became the top-selling passenger vehicle in the country. Earlier in February, he actively recruited local talent by sharing Tesla job openings in chip design, fabrication and AI software, calling on Korean engineers to join the company.
